Building with a Positive Footprint

10.11.2022

On Friday, Nov. 4, 2022, we festively launched our book Building with a Positive Footprint in the Keilezaal of the IABR.

Vincent van der Meulen is an architect and partner at Kraaijvanger Architects. He wrote this book based on his own experience, driven by his desire to radically accelerate the sustainability of the construction industry. What Unilever's Paul Polman describes for companies in the book Net Positive, Vincent van der Meulen describes in Building with a Positive Footprint for the construction industry. It explains in an accessible way how to build radically sustainable and why it is not happening now. This book offers a new method with practical handles, tools and insights to get started yourself and especially with your team and partners.

This book launch was opened by Saskia van Stein, director of the IABR, after which Vincent shared his ambitions for writing this book to elaborate on them in a conversation with Peter Veenstra, IABR curator and founding partner & senior architect at Lola Landscape Architects. Eelco van Welie of NAI publishers expressed this evening that this book is an example of sustainable publishing even for an editor, the book is printed with vegetal-based inks and on paper made from 100% recycled paper fibers.

Vincent van der Meulen presented the first copies of the book to some brave clients who set an example to build with their project with a positive footprint.
