Hoera! De Doelen is 50 years old! On Wednesday 18 May 2016, the concert hall celebrated its 50th anniversary. Because Kraaijvanger Architects is still involved, we would like to congratulate the Doelen with this wonderful anniversary. The concert hall was designed by the founders of our office Herman and Evert Kraaijvanger as a crowning of the reconstruction. Kraaijvanger Architects is still working on the Doelen, so that the building will continue with its time. After 40 years the complex was ready for alarge-scale renovation.The interventions have been carefully executed so that the original design has been preserved in a balanced manner. In addition to modifications to the interior and furniture, the installations were a major part of the renovation. In addition to the large-scale renovation, the plinth of De Doelen was transformed a few years ago. Thanks to the transformation, a better relationship between the concert hall and its surroundings was created by literally drawing in urban life.
