20.02.2014

The construction of the town hall and the municipal office of Leidschendam-Voorburg has started. The renewed buildings are designed by Kraaijvanger de Architekten Cie.

The municipal organization is currently housed on six different locations in Leidschendam and Voorburg. From March 2015, the organization will be centrally located in Leidschendam.

Kraaijvanger designed the renewal and expansion of the municipal office. The aim is to achieve the certificate BREEAM Good. Furthermore the ambitions is a maximum preservation of the garden and the usages of green roofs for water collection.

In the architectue and materialization Kraaijvanger makes a link with the particular brick architecture of Leidschendam-Voorburg. The expansion of the municipal office gets a lively facade consisting out of articulated windows and corners that will enrich the streetscape. The ground floor will be open and inviting.

The rhythm and depth of the facade are determined by window frames and majestic bay windows. Sight lines will connect the existing building to the plaza and restaurant. The brick façade will get natural stone details, which can also be found in flooring and finishes of the existing building.
