Both jury and audience of the Architzer A + Awards choose Venlo as the best government building! The design for thesustainable Venlo City Office, which was opened in October, has won prizes at the American Architizer A + Awards. The city office designed by Kraaijvanger Architects was developed according to the Cradle to Cradle philosophy and won the Best Public Buildings category with both the jury and the public award. The presentation of this architecture and design award is on May 11 in New York during the start of the NYCxDesign week. Architect Hans Goverde: "We knew that we had set up something special with this building, but it is fantastic to get recognition for the design quality with this award. We are extremely proud that we have been able to show that sustainability and aesthetics can go hand in hand and maybe even prouder of the municipality of Venlo that dared to challenge this project. " Alderman Wim van den Beuken: "I am extremely pleased with this recognition. Our employees and visitors experience every day what a beautiful and healthy building this is.

Cradle to Cradle is about adding value. It is nice that these principles are recognized internationally, and very exceptionally that both the jury and the public are sensitive to this. Our city office proves that sustainability and design go well together. " The municipal office Venlo is the result of the ambitions of the municipality of Venlo to be the leading region in the field of Cradle to Cradle developments. The Cradle to Cradle concept is based on the health of people and the environment and 100% high quality reusability of used materials and products. The production process, use and future reuse of all materials and products used in the municipal office are not harmful to people and the environment. In fact, the building contributes even to the health of users, visitors and the environment with, among other things, 2000 m² of green façade. The air is demonstrably cleaner thanks to the hundreds of plants that filter particulate matter and nitrogen oxides.
