City District Office East

Amsterdam

The city district office East contains the local city office, a fine arts centre and a 0-12 primary school/community centre. It is the central block in the urban plan for the Polderweg area, the city’s former power plant. The historic facades are partly restored to maintain the characteristic view from the waterside. Inside, the fine arts centre profits from the vast spaces. The city office recedes from these halls. The is planned around a playground area for the youngest children. The horizontal facade is intersected by an entrance arch.
