Kraaijvanger

To give an empty spot in the city a new value. That is Kraaijvangers aim with the construction of the new city hall of Almelo. The magazine 'Stedenbouw' published an extensive article about the design. The town hall stands on a waterfront and is surrounded by greenery. The transparent plinth guides the route from the inner city to the station. The municipality of Almelo wants a working environment with more solidarity and at the same time more shelter and intimacy for its employees. Kraaijvanger has developed this into flexible office floors divided over two towers that are split-level. Various sustainable techniques have been integrated into the new city hall. The ambition of the municipality was a BREEAM Excellent building and that was achieved through effective use of materials, energy and spatial organization.
