Van Gelder fruit & vegetable's new construction project has been nominated for the international BREEAM Awards 2019in the Commercial Project - Design category.

The public can vote for their favorite project. Winners will be announced on 4 March and prizes will be presented at the BREEAM Awards galain London.

The BREEAM Awards recognizes the performance of those involved in the specification, design, construction and management of BREEAM-certified buildings. Sustainable design Kraaijvanger designed the new building for all functions for Van Gelder as one sustainable object with a BREEAM Outstanding certificate. This instead of the sum of different boxes, which can often be seen on industrial estates.

Sustainable aspects The sustainability certificate was partly achieved through the use of informal meeting places throughout the building, public transport information in the central hall with bus stop in front of the door, an orchard in front of the main entrance, various charging stations for electronic cars and daylight at every workplace. In addition, the new building is completely gas-free and prepared for the future. In addition to Van Gelder fruit and vegetables,five other Dutch projects were nominated.
