Wouter Ijssel de Schepper en Kraaijvanger Architects nemen afscheid

After 20 years, we are saying goodbye to Wouter IJssel de Schepper. And that feels very special. Wouter joined us in 2006 as an architect and became an associate partner in 2019. Over the years, we came to know him as a dedicated designer with a keen eye for both the big picture and the smallest detail. His background in architecture (Delft University of Technology) and construction engineering (HTS Enschede) made him a bridge-builder between concept and execution.

He worked on complex, inner-city projects such as Hart van Zuid in Rotterdam, Groenewoud in Utrecht, the Utrecht City Hall and the Ghent City Hall. But he was just as passionate about transformations, such as the redevelopment of the former Blokker on Hoogstraat and several V&D department stores.

What characterises Wouter is his genuine interest in how people live and inhabit their surroundings. He saw the intimate living environment not merely as a task, but as a key to the future. A conviction he has made tangible within our practice.

His contribution to Kraaijvanger Architects has been of great value. We will miss his energy, vision and collegiality. Wouter, thank you for everything you have brought to the firm! We wish you every success and enjoyment in whatever lies ahead.
