Groen licht voor de metamorfose van stationshal Zuidplein

The city council has approved the funding. This means that, together with Rotterdam City Council, RET and Heijmans, we will start transforming the station hall.

What started as a modest task has grown into an ambitious project: a future-proof public transport hub where meeting, staying and travelling come together. No longer just an interchange, but a fully-fledged urban entrance and calling card for Hart van Zuid Rotterdam.

We build on architect Veerling's reconstruction icon and enhance the qualities of the existing station: light, air and overview. This will create a transparent and welcoming place, connected to the city and ready for the future. Moreover, there will be 7 new commercial units in the hall, providing additional facilities and liveliness. Zuidplein will also have the largest bicycle hub in Rotterdam-South, with space for no fewer than 973 bicycles, delivery bikes and scooters - a big step towards sustainable mobility.
