Feestelijke start bouw IKC Vindingrijk

On 5 December, the construction of IKC Vindingrijk officially and festively commenced in Maassluis. For Kraaijvanger Architects, this marks a special moment: after years of intensive collaboration with all partners, the realisation of this unique integrated child centre is now actually getting underway.
The pupils of Vindingrijk signed one of the piles on which the new building will rest. Under the supervision of school principals Marscha Gerritsen and Leontien Stofbergen, councillor Denise Mulder-Solleveld, SIKO director Saskia van Duijn-Le Maire, KomKids director Angela Kok and a surprise guest – Sinterklaas – the first pile was ceremoniously driven into the ground.

Outside is the new inside
The new IKC was designed by Kraaijvanger based on the vision that “outside is the new inside”. The school works with so-called “Riches”: developmental worlds in which children of different ages learn together through discovery. The building will feature flexible learning environments, verandas and balconies, plenty of daylight and natural materials, and a strong connection with the green surroundings of Wilgenrijk. This creates a place where curiosity, adventure and well-being are central.

Next to the school, a KomKids Kinderopvang childcare centre is also being built, which will soon form a single entity for children aged 0 to 13.

Collaboration as a foundation
The start of construction is not only a milestone for Vindingrijk, but also for the design and advisory team that has developed the project with care and dedication over the past few years: Kraaijvanger Architects, DGMR (building physics, sustainability and fire safety), Techniplan Adviseurs and IMd Raadgevende Ingenieurs.

Contractor BM van Houwelingen and installer BRI Groep are now taking over to bring the design to life. If everything goes according to plan, the building will be completed in just over a year.

Important piece of the puzzle within Eigengoed
IKC Vindingrijk will be part of Eigengoed, the new facility in the Wilgenrijk neighbourhood where education, health, creativity and relaxation come together. The project was made possible in part by the collaboration between Wilgenrijk, SIKO, KomKids, (para)medical entrepreneurs, the hospitality industry and the municipality of Maassluis.
Kraaijvanger looks forward with pride to the completion of a future-proof learning and living environment where children will soon be able to discover, play and grow every day.
