LIMA: a new, vibrant gateway to Rotterdam South

A major milestone for LIMA: yesterday, Rotterdam City Council approved the project vision document for this unique housing development. This marks the next step towards further developing the design.

Alongside the Zuidpleino shopping centre, we are developing two residential towers, approximately 70 and 130 metres high, comprising around 800 homes. LIMA will be more than just a residential building: it will be a vertical urban village where living, socialising, amenities, communal spaces and green areas come together. A place where people of all ages and backgrounds can feel at home, with an urban living room as the beating heart of the building.

LIMA caters for different generations and stages of life – from students and young professionals to families and older people. The double-height plinth, communal outdoor spaces and shared facilities encourage interaction and strengthen social cohesion.

Sustainability and nature-inclusive design have been an integral part of the project from the outset. From ground level to the roof, greenery, roof gardens, terraces and communal spaces are interwoven with the building. In this way, we enhance biodiversity and forge a strong connection with the nearby Zuiderpark.
With LIMA, we are demonstrating that urban densification, affordable housing, a high quality of living and a greener living environment can go hand in hand.
LIMA forms part of Hart van Zuid. This area development, centred around the Zuidplein shopping centre and Rotterdam Ahoy, is creating a vibrant city centre for Rotterdam South.
