Kraaijvanger is looking for a junior architect

The architectural development of Ahoy Convention Centre and a brainstorm about a new school. Just a few of the daily projects at Kraaijvanger Architects. Here you can discover what type of project really suits you as a junior architect.

Wanting is being able to as a junior architect

From commercial offices to school buildings and everything in between. At Kraaijvanger you will work as a junior architect in an independent team on sustainable projects that are at the heart of society. Not by waiting with your arms folded, but by taking matters into your own hands. Show what you excel in. The sooner you master all the knowledge, the sooner you will make your own designs and specialize further in your area of focus. Of course you start with the basics. For a minimum of 32 hours a week you will be busy with:

- Developing design variants.

- making partial designs.

- Working together on different projects. From concept to completion.

We are Kraaijvanger Architects

An architectural firm with roots in Rotterdam. Literally, because Kraaijvanger Architects has been a household name here since 1927. Today our office is filled with 60 practical idealists working on a variety of projects. We are not dreamers, but doers who create socially engaged architecture. Think public buildings, public interiors and vital city districts. From chair to city. Our goal? To create buildings and spaces with character and lasting beauty. We want people to work, live and learn more happily in sustainable buildings that enhance their surroundings. The more complex the project, the more we like to get stuck in. And all that in the heart of Rotterdam, within walking distance of Blaak train station.

Your team consists of about 8 colleagues who all excel in their own field. They are all experts, for example a technical project leader or sustainability specialist. Hierarchy is not in our dictionary and everyone is responsible for his or her own part. In other words: we make it happen. Although we throw you in at the deep end, we don't let you drown. Especially in the first period, you will be paired with a senior. Someone who tells you all the ins and outs of our company and, above all, acts as your life jacket. Not that you need anything like that...

What about you?

You are a practical idealist, just like us. Someone who seizes opportunities and works independently. You don't let the cheese be eaten out of your bread. What's more, you dare to think outside the box. This is how you keep developing as a specialist. In no time you will draw a line under 'junior' and dare to take responsibility for larger projects. Good to know: have you not yet fully completed the professional experience period? No problem, we make room for that. However, you must be in possession of:

- A wo-diploma in Architecture, preferably at the Technical University.

- 1 to 2 years of experience as an assistant/junior architect.

- Experience with Revit. Not a must, but a plus.

Taking the initiative is rewarded

You have complete control over your career path at Kraaijvanger Architects. In return for your hard work you can expect a nice reward. As a junior architect you will receive, on the basis of a 40-hour week

- a gross monthly salary between € 2,424 and € 2,736 (scale F of the collective agreement for architects).

- 30 vacation days.

- A training budget so you can continue to specialize.

- pension accrual.

- An excellent bonus scheme

- a 9 months contract to start with

- Compensation for your professional experience period, to which we pay a lot of attention.

- Travel allowance for public transport if you live outside Rotterdam (up to a maximum of 50 kilometers one way in 2nd class).

Every wall has an open door

Show us immediately that you are in control. So apply before 3 June 2021, because this vacancy closes then. Do you have any questions? Please contact Bas Niese, managing partner at 06 - 51 15 47 87 or basniese@kraaijvanger.nl.

What does the application procedure look like? During the first interview, you get to know Bas and another architect partner. We'll take a look at your portfolio, discuss your ambitions and collect your references. Have we become even more enthusiastic? Then a second meeting will follow, where we discuss the final points. You will also get the chance to talk to a (future) colleague. Who knows, we might soon be toasting to your new job!
