City office Westnieuwland in Gevel & Dak Journaal
30.09.2016
The renovation of the Westnieuwland city office is currently in full swing in Vlaardingen. The existing building has been stripped down to the concrete shell and will receive new brick facades.
The magazine Gevel & Dak Journaal focuses in the October 2013 issue on the special method of bricklaying that is applied: without dilatations and head sizes. The article is written by Joop Wilschut and Japser Bosman made the photos.
"Newly bricklaying facades of a renovation project only have dilatations on the perpendicular corners of the building. The existing facade openings have been dimensioned in such a way that the masonry bonding has not been worked out on the head, which alone made the masonry with shortened stretches and 'flax' This is complicated because of structural complications due to the lack of dilatations.
