09.05.2016

Finally recognition for the brothers Evert and Herman Kraaijvanger, the founders of Kraaijvanger Architects: in an article on the website of Vers Beton historian Paul Groenendijk calls the brothers the architects of the reconstruction of Rotterdam. He discusses the quantitative and qualitative contribution of the brothers to reconstruction. Between tradition and modernism Groenendijk writes that Evert and Herman did not work on the least projects, such as the Amsterdamsche Bank-Incassobank, concert hall De Doelen and Peek & Cloppenburg. They are characterized by their traditional, yet modern style. 'In terms of style, the buildings often balanced between tradition and modernism.' Servable to the client Groenendijk ends his article with how the brothers arrived at their number of assignments. On the one hand, the Kraaijvangers were good at networking, in addition they were mainly the service to the client, which gave them a lot of work. The client received what he asked for: 'A building of the brothers met functional requirements, was ready on time and remained within the budget'.
