British Junior School

British Junior School

The British Junior School is situated in the north-east corner of a rich green area. The plan consists of two elements, a curve and a bar. The curve accommodates all classrooms, enabling all the pupils to see the garden. The rectangular building is reserved for all other services. In the middle a central void is maintained, where the movements of people can be viewed in all directions. Walking through the building, you can perceive various degrees of transparency along this central axis.

One of the ambitions has been to make the building as green as possible. The south-facing facade is a passive solar energy collector, allowing sunshine to enter during the winter, while protecting from excessive heat gain in summer.
