Commissioned by the city of Rotterdam we did a study on the Tropicana site / Maasboulevard flats as part of the vision Maasboulevard. Tropicana is located in the bend of the river, which is one of the most beautiful view points on Rotterdam’s highrise. The plan is based on demolition of the existing Tropicana. New development is realized on the heads of the existing Maasboulevard flats. Thus the beautiful view from the flats stays optimal. On the location of the current Tropicana a beautiful green area with phenomenal views of city and river is created as part of the river promenade. Recreational program in the form of an outdoor pool, a playground, cafe and restaurant, etc. can be connected here.
