Stationshof Voorhout
Peter van der Helm
The question we’ve been asked was an urban vision on the adjacent location of the station Voorhout. We start by finding the most suitable characteristic for this place. The rural quality is stated in a number of policy documents as an important quality of Voorhout. This quality we used in two spatial concepts. Finally, we made a global financial feasibility analysis on these concepts.
The names for these concepts speak volumes, one titled Model Court and the other model Terp. Both with a height difference which is used to make an introvert settlement on top and underneath the high demand on de parking is resolved. In both concepts a central square is proposed. Yet here again a clear difference can be distinguished; one square really opens up, while the other one is much more enclosed. In both the rural character always remains the central concept.
