Delta Plateau

Delta Plateau reconnects the IJsselmonde island with the river delta. IJsselmonde is now the byproduct of the randstad's economic development and is characterized by fragmentation. By partly moving the dikes and allowing rivers free reign, a vast river landscape is created. The new dikes are extended into elevated plains. Barriers formed by infrastructure will 'sink' away into this all-encompassing landscape. IJsselmonde will be transformed into a comprehensive environment for working, living, leisure and nature.
Delta Plateau started as a competition entry for the Eo Wijers 2008 urban design competition.
