The removal of a number of large school buildings will free up some 8 hectares of space within the Heemskerk town centre for the construction of housing and various facilities in an area where water plays a dominant role. The street level is lower than the living level. This will result in a green area for pedestrians, cyclists and playing children, though the cars can nonetheless remain parked close to the residences.
