Renovation Blaak 28-34, Rotterdam (NL)
Daniela Schelle
The interior department of Kraaijvanger • Urbis has redesigned seven office floors by redividing and rearranging the existing office boxes. One floor is redesigned as ‘office garden’ with non-permanent and flexible work stations. In addition a new public hall and waiting lounge is developed on the ground floor for the tax department. A new kitchen and catering supplies is designed for the companies restaurant. Furthermore a education room is added and the basement is converted into a bicycle storage. All proceedings are preformed within a short time period of one year.
The building is listed as a historic monument, which involves that no irreversible changes to the building could be made. Therefore it wasn’t possible to perforate the original marble floor. The new designed public counters had to be glued in an ingenious manner.
